space for the dreamer

there is space in this world for those that dream. creative type people who think, and draw, and imagine.
there is a space in the economy for those that can turn good ideas into cashflow.

it feels as though the world is starting to favour these types more in the 21st century, and so it should - as the world is ‘blanded up’ by accountants and engineers, good imaginative ideas become undersupplied to the global population, making them more valuable. causing them to have a price-tag. creative types can earn a living by being creative.

and this is good news for writers, singers, authors, actors, photographers, designers and story-tellers - our imagination waits and loves to be captured...

Where did you notice this "movement" exactly?

I'm starting university (In Europe) this year and I'm being told by many people that I should study something I can make money with, meaning: engineering, economics, sciences,...
I shouldn't study something "useless" like philosophy, languages, literature, religion etc. because there aren't many jobs in that department.

I think you're right: I also think that we - the world - need more dreamers. People that write poems, songs and can philosophize about many topics.
But I think most people living on this planet don't think so. The only important thing is making money, making more money and making more money than the others do.

hey europe - i am in a close network of friends who seem to be able to turn their creative talents into cashflow. i think that is the key - you have to live, and therefore you have to generate money somehow. a few friends have their own graphic design companies, or manage to make a living out of their music... i guess it does without saying that if all you ever do is dream, and imagine and wirte poems that you cant sell, you will go hungry.

thanks for your input. good luck with the choice you have ahead of you!
